COMFORT CUPS
THE HOW AND WHY

In memory of my husband, Fire Fighter Adam Tarbert, who lost his battle to PTSD September 19th, 2019.

My children and I decided to make cups that we hope will provide comfort during difficult times, with high hopes the cups would bring comfort and calm to many and help spread awareness to PTSD and first responder suicide.

Every day, my husband, my children’s daddy, battled with anxiety and depression caused by the things he saw when he was a police officer and firefighter. He was a warrior and fought with EVERYTHING he had in him to heal and stay alive. Many times I could physically see the PTSD on him: the weight of his world he carried on his shoulders, his eyebrows knitted with confusion, his stomach turned with relentless pain, chronic back pain, and his eyes foggy with depression and exhaustion.

The only time I was able to see him break this fog was when he held a cup of hot tea (or mushroom coffee) in one of the many mugs that I made for him. It slowed the freight train that was running through his mind long enough for him to come up for air and shake the anxiety.

The Lord put it heavy on my heart to begin making them to help bring awareness to first responder ptsd and first responder suicide awareness.

The Comfort Cup donation initiative will help this group by providing comfort cups for each first responder on their first meeting to Adam’s Group at no cost to them.  Your donation will also make it possible to provide comfort cups to first responders and families who have been referred to me who may not be local.
